Success Stories
The animals below have been successfully adopted into loving homes through Friends for Life Adoption Programs!
Mozart

Above are pictures I have taken since Mozart has been with us. As you can see, his is completely part of the family. Much to Megan's disappointment, he is Gary's dog. Truthfully, Gary is the couch-sitter and fetch-player. But as you can see from the photos, he is happy to be with all of us.
He had multiple visits to the vet and groomers — all for very normal stuff. We had him microchipped — this was after a time he got away from Gary in the front yard. We live on a big circle and after a couple of minutes, he came bounding around from the other directions — just like we had taken a walk!
He is eating well and I think has put on just a tiny bit of weight. The vet said he really didn't need to gain any but he doesn't feel as "ribby" as he did before. He does not love his crate, but he always goes in when asked. He now sleeps out of the crate at night — he is such a good dog. He loves his walks — I usually take him once during the day and Gary always takes him at night. When Gary says, "Ohhhhhh puppy!" to signal that it is walk time, Mozart does the darn cutest happy dance you have ever seen.
I have really only worked on the "sit" commmand, and he is pretty good on that. But Gary, as previous dog owner and Alpha Dog, can get hime to do everything with an "I mean it" voice. Good golly, the two of them are a pair. Gary gets down on the ground and plays puppy games with him.
Everywhere I go, vets, etc., treat him as a Westie and that seems to work. He likes his chewy rope toys, but he has two little animal toys that are his definite favorites. Such a terrier.
Overall, I have to say that he is the perfect dog for us. I think this happened because I had thought about the kind of dog that would work for us, and the day I read your description of Mozart, I knew he could come be our doggy. Sometimes I wish he could tell us about his previous life, but I do have a strong feeling that he is as happy with us as we are with him.
Shepherd

Here's Shepherd on adoption day with his mom and extended family. Lucky boy, do you see all these girls! Mom is a music major and also teches piano lessons. He is going to have a grand piano to lounge around on.
Egypt

Here's a note from Egypt's new mom and dad:
We would like to introduce everyone to the newest member of our family: our furry baby, Egypt. She is about 2 years old and weighs approximately 50 pounds. Chris and I adopted her through Friends for Life today. She is an absolute sweetheart, but a fighter at heart (her first "owners" apparently did not treat her well; her foster mom found her with an electrical cord tied around her neck — thankfully, Egypt chewed through it!) We;re very grateful to her foster mom, who loved Egypt back to health for 6 months. Egypt is very intelligent and sweet as can be (she loves to give kisses with her huge tongue!)
And here's a note from Egypt's foster mom to FFL:
I should have thanked you sooner but I couldn’t stop crying long enough! Now, I’m better. Beryl has sent me about 15 pictures of Egypt from her first evening and from yesterday (her first full day). I’m so relieved. Egypt looks perfectly at home in a lovely home with toys and treats and love from her new mom and dad! And, Beryl said she spent the night on their bed. She has a wonderful home thanks to your group. I am ever so grateful!
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
